Doctors' Day 2010: Thank you for being LIFESAVERS

Wish your doctor a Happy Doctors’ Day!
"Thank you for being LIFESAVERS."

Doctors' Day is March 30. Help the St. Johns County Medical Alliance celebrate by wishing your doctor a "Happy Doctors' Day!"

At Flagler Hospital's Doctors' Day event, St. Johns County Medical Alliance members will pass out candy Lifesavers with labels that read, "Save a Life: SAVE (Stop America's Violence Everywhere)", as well as Patient Safety Cards.

History of National Doctors’ Day
On March 30, 1958, a Resolution Commemorating Doctors’ Day was adopted by the United States House of Representatives. In 1990, legislation was introduced in the House and Senate to establish a National Doctors’ Day. Following overwhelming approval by the US Senate and the House of Representatives, on October 30, 1990, President George Bush signed S.J. Res. #366 (which became Public Law 101-473) designating March 30th as “National Doctors’ Day.” Today, the red carnation is commonly used as the symbolic flower for National Doctors’ Day.

2009 Ancient City Kids Day

JAM (Junior Alliance of Medicine)
participates in
Ancient City Kids Day

Ancient City Kids Day was a huge success this past Saturday. Thanks to all those who showed up to help!

We brought a great display board with a message to kids to "Ask For it" --immunizations, that is. We included info from the CDC web site and the American Lung Association about seasonal & H1N1 flu. We had a great turnout & gave away glow-in-the-dark skeletons, gumball "eyeballs", spider rings, stickers, & placed a lot of tattoos on little hands & faces.

The issue of vaccinations is on the 2009 FMA (Florida Medical Association) legislative agenda.
We must oppose any weakening of the requirements for childhood vaccinations in Florida. It protects all of us and young people are the target population for H1N1 flu!
