Medical Alliance HonorS doctors in celebration of Doctors’ Day
St. Augustine, FL, MARCH 30, 2009: The St. Johns County Medical Alliance honored our county’s physicians on March 30th in celebration of National Doctors’ Day.
The Alliance, along with the Junior Medical Alliance, created “Happy Doctors Day” cards for all patient meal trays in Flagler Hospital and all tables in the dining rooms. The doctors’ dining room was decorated for the occasion with balloons and a bowl filled with embellished chocolates was at the center of a display that included pins, made by the Junior Alliance, for doctors to wear on their coats. Tongue depressors were also decorated for their coat pockets.
Last week, Mayor Joe Boles issued a proclamation recognizing March 30, 2009 as Doctors’ Day in our city. President Stella Brown, Robin Pierluisi and Grace Tirado attended the ceremony and accepted the formal announcement.
The Junior Alliance of Medicine, JAM, meets each month for a health service activity. Some previous projects have included creating get well cards to sell in the hospital gift shop, designing health information display boards for free health care clinics waiting room, making a health education book for doctors’ office waiting areas, making and selling holiday share cards to raise money for scholarships, decorating Valentines Day candy boxes for nursing homes, and many others. This month they helped to honor their physician parent by creating the art work & lapel pins for the celebration.
The St. Johns County Medical Alliance is comprised of physicians’ spouses. The group is dedicated to health-related service projects and providing scholarships for graduating high school students. This event was to honor and recognize the physicians that serve our community. (SJCMA on the web: www.sjcma.blogspot.com)
